The other day a longtime friend of mine called me and somehow we got talking about dogs, his wife wanting a puppy and dog training. Border Collie Intelligence - Strong Association Skills

I’ve mentioned before about how our Border Collie, Ned, goes crazy when he sees light from a flashlight. This little quirk also extends to pretty much any spot of light he can see which, at times, can cause problems. For example if the wife and I are sitting around chatting over a glass of wine with the lights dimmed and a candle lit he will sometimes focus on the light from the candle on the ceiling and go a little nuts. Border Collies are very sensitive dogs

I’ve always maintained that hitting or yelling at a dog in anger does very little good to correct behaviors. When it comes to training or correcting a bad behavior positive reinforcement and an even keel are the way to go. When dealing with a Border Collie I would say this is doubly true.
